I always see art as having no limits and I see this
as a perfect example of extraordinary paper cutting Terada Mokei. He has
created a model of a busy New York City subway station. I see this design a being a functional piece of art
that could actually be developed into an architectural model for potential
buildings.
This art piece features a collection ranging from
animals, squirrels, dogs and he has even gone the extra mile of creating a
typical New York setting of the subway station that includes, food stalls,
pedestrians, cyclists and even a cop on a horseback. I find his attention to
detail extraordinary, as I love the fact that created a scene that has been based
on a typical New York day. I love how he has created every little piece of
detail that you would expect to see form bicycles, trash bins, barricades and
even people.
Another example of his collection is this stunning
and ethereal cheery blossom tree. The Japanese see the cherry blosson tree as a
sign of good luck, fortune, and life. To me this feels like the appropriate
symbol of light for Japan.
